Lanark shop assistant robbed at knifepoint

An armed robbery was carried out at a newsagents in Lanark on Saturday morning.

The incident took place at McColls in Bannatyne Street at around 6.10am when a man threatened a female staff member with a kitchen knife and demanded money.

The suspect, who is described as approximately 6ft tall and wearin g dark clothing, made off with a three-figure sum and cigarettes.

The shop asistant was shocked, but unhurt.
