Pharmacist at centre of Carstairs GP controversy declared unfit to practice
The General Pharmaceutical Council has decided that Mr Habib Khan, whose opening of a chemist shop in Lanark Road is blamed by some for the village GP practice nearly folding, is unfit to practice as a pharmacist for at least five years.
However, the Gazette understands that his Carstairs pharmacy – now the only local place where prescriptions can be obtained – will carry on operating.

Hide AdA spokesman for NHS Lanarkshire said: “We are aware of the General Pharmaceutical Council’s Fitness to Practice Committee decision.
“NHS Lanarkshire will now consider the committee’s findings.Day to day pharmacy provision continues to be provided.”
