HAVING played through the pain barrier of a thigh injury in recent weeks, Carluke Rovers ace Gordon Murphy put these woes behind him to score the winner on Saturday.

Murphy’s 26th minute strike was enough to seal a 1-0 home win over Wishaw in their Section 2 Sectional League Cup tie, putting Rovers second in the table with four points from three matches.

Rovers chairman Craig Martin said: “Gordon has been suffering quite a bit when training and playing through injury, but he has now played three games in a week and seems to be over that problem now.

“His goal against Wishaw was an excellent cushioned finish.”
